Anette Leopold's career began as an accredited nursery-school teacher. The political change during the German unification made a professional reorientation necessary. Later, she studied mechanical engineering and then worked as an engineer in AMD, today GlobalFoundries (GF), a semiconductor company in Dresden, Germany. She started as a shift engineer 17 years ago in charge of etching processes and measurement technology. When a new metrology department was established, she took on responsibility as lead engineer for setting up the shift and training the new colleagues. She currently works as a process engineer for optical measurement processes (OCD). Outside her work she initiated the Young Education Project. Together with interested colleagues they had 26 appointments in kindergartens and primary schools in Dresden in 2023. Many materials were specifically made for the project to make complex processes understandable to the children. Anette lives in Dresden with her husband and her three children.
