Women automation engineers are playing a pivotal role in leveraging automation technologies to promote a clean and sustainable environment. However, due to historical and systemic challenges, women are still underrepresented. This session discusses this underrepresentation of women in the field of automation engineering, a critical area of technology development that includes robotics, artificial intelligence, and industrial automation systems. Furthermore, from my own personal experience this session focuses on the barriers that contribute to the low participation of women, including access to opportunities, educational pathways, and industry biases, while underscoring the need for supportive environments that empower women to lead in sustainability-focused automation initiatives.
